The elevated packaging, including branded silk paper and card, and wooden pencil case, make this a true collector's item. The larger size No.10 makes it an excellent chef knife but in a folding form.
This knife includes a custom designed maple wood pencil case.

Originally from Japan, Atsuko Totsuka-Blanchet now lives in France. Founder of Shiori, Atsuko teaches cookery classes and sells objects made in Japan. Shiori selects objects made by Japanese craftsmen but adapted to everyday French life, focusing on a ubiquitous concept in Japan Yōnobi (⽤の美) or functional beauty, a design value dear to Opinel.
For Opinel, Atsuko sought out craftsmen in Hyogo, Osaka, Gifu and Niigata, and it was finally Nigara Hamono in the prefecture of Aomori, famous for its 350-year old Tsugaru Uchihamono cutlery, who helped bring this unique N°10 knife to life, combining our two cultures...
Tsugaru Uchihamono has chosen an exceptional steel: VG7, a multi layer stainless steel. Tsuchime hammering gives it an irregular surface that prevents moist food from sticking to the blade. With a hardness of 63 HRC, the blade offers a remarkable cut and a cutting edge that lasts over time. The handle is made from flamed maple, a luminous, shimmering wood.
Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, we're still following in Joseph Opinel's footsteps nearly 130 years later. From our home in the Alps, we make tools designed to stand the test of time. We value the quaility of our knives and tools, and offer a limited lifetime warranty for all Opinel products. In the event of a manufacturer's defect or workmanship, Opinel will exchange the products affected.
