Wood worker in France for the last 25+ years, Bruno Chaperon was trained at the famous French "Arts Décoratifs" and "Beaux-arts de Paris". Mr. Chaperon has developed and patented the intricate "sinusoidal" marquetry design you see on the knife. Each handle is unique and made in our woodshop by hand using 4 kinds of wood: Walnut, Rosewood, Wengé, and Ashwood. The Stainless Steel blade is polished for an elegant result.
The gift box is included with this item.
Hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife in water, as this could warp the wooden handle. Dry the blade before closing.
Keep your blade sharp and your handle shiny with our maintenance kit.

This knife checks all the boxes. Looks of the handle, ease of working the Virobloc, the polished blade, and the cloth sheath all add to the happiness of owning this knife. The blade is sharp and the Opinel quality is evident from the knife itself to the box it came in. I tend to believe that each knife is slightly different, therefore one of a kind. It is a pricey knife but very satisfying to have purchased.
I purchased the No. 8 with the great inlaid wooden handle. The knife arrived to me sharp and the ring lock works well. I'd tell people considering this knife that it is not for heavy work - such as camping. But, it is a good EDC for slicing, opening boxes, etc. The only wish that I would have is to be able to get the inlaid wooden handle with the carbon steel blade.
My son and I found an Opinel dealer in the Adirondacks and I bought each of us a knife: he got a no. 8, I got a no. 2. Simple in design, beautiful to use. For his birthday I got the Bruno Chaperon for him. He was surprised and I was very pleased... I may need to buy one for myself now!
Beautiful shiny handle, made of many perfectly connected woods. Mirror sheen on blade, opens and closes nicely. Highly Recommended
This is just such a fantastic knife. It truly is a work of art. The handle is perfectly crafted, and the blade is way more of a mirror finish than I was expecting. Phenomenal!
This item also exists as part of the No.08 Master Collector Box Set - pairing premium and limited editions No.08 folding knives to create THE Opinel collector dreamy set and save a few dollars!

Hand polished Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel to create a beautiful mirror effect. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% provides an excellent cutting edge and is easily sharpened.
Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, we're still following in Joseph Opinel's footsteps nearly 130 years later. From our home in the Alps, we make tools designed to stand the test of time. We value the quaility of our knives and tools, and offer a limited lifetime warranty for all Opinel products. In the event of a manufacturer's defect or workmanship, Opinel will exchange the products affected.
