The No.08 Padouk is a very versatile knife, essential for outdoor activities and humid environments. Padouk wood has a gorgeous color and is much more resistant to swelling while wet. For these reasons, it is also popular among hunters and fishermen.
The gift box is included with this item.
Hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife in water, as this could warp the wooden handle. Dry the blade before closing.
Keep your blade sharp and your handle shiny with our maintenance kit.

Great working knife. The handle works better than the standard beechwood that I have with all of the humidity that I deal with. The knife did come very stiff but with a bit of time and oil works great now. I have one gripe and that is that the blade is a high polish finish instead of the satin that my beechwood one has. Just a cosmetic dislike and in no way a deal breaker. Still a 5 star knife.
I grew up in France, where everybody knows what Opinel knives are, and probably has one. Or several. Fast-forward a few years and a continent change: I came across a piece on the web a few months ago making me realize that my childhood knife was now available here in the US. Placed a couple of orders - one with olivier (olive wood) for me and another with this Padouk handle as a gift to my brother. Both beautiful knives, brought great memories. Anyway, excellent quality and a very affordable price. Merci, Opinel !
I have had my Opinel for a couple of weeks now. I have been enjoying it immensely. The form factor is very comfortable. And the paduk wood is a lovely color. Working in an environment that can be wet or humid, I appreciate the stability of this wood option in combination with the stainless steel blade.
My first Opinel was a No 7 Carbon. I love the Padouk handle on this No8, and was interested in owning an Opinel with the stainless steel blade. This particular model is a great one to have int he pocket.
I always found these knives to have an old school charm about them when i saw them. I never owned one before and decided to purchase one online and was very pleased with the knife when it arrived. The padouk has a nice walnut handle and a great quality blade that is very sharp. I beem carrying it in my coat everyday! You cant go wrong with an opinel👍
