Probably one of my favorite Opinel knives. We keep a No.08 Outdoor handy around the house and use it for everything: opening bags of dog food, cutting stuff, calling the dogs back with the whistle... It's the one knife we will grab whenever we need a task done around our property, The serrated blade will never let you down and I can forget it outside under the rain, the knife will still be impecable. A hidden gem within Opinel.
Pretty nice EDC knife, but a butter knife is sharper than this one. I’ll have to go to work on it.
I’m really sick of all the Chinese knives out there. They all pretty much look the same. I want some thing that’s different and I bought a number eight outdoor. This thing is a dream. I am now a collector of opening all knives and have five in my collection. In this model I currently have the blue and the green. Quite honestly this is one of my primary knives in my EDC rotation. Every time I pull it out someone comments on how cool it is. Don’t discount this knife. It opens and closes way better than the wood handle models. It’s so light you don’t even know it’s in your pocket. In my opinion this is the perfect EDC knife and I’m a collector for life. I have had hundreds of knives I’ve sold almost all of them and only collect Opinel and a couple other manufacturers.
I've taken this camping and gravel biking and it works great. I don't have to worry about moisture either with the stainless blade and non-wood handle. I have 2 other wooden Opinels but this one is the most hassle free to store and use.
I picked my Orange Outdoors up after accompanying my son on a section hike of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. He carried the blue version, which really impressed me. When we finished, we stopped by a sporting goods store, where I purchased mine. I have several Opinels, including the No. 9 Bricolage, and am a big fan! Since that day, this knife has accompanied me on numerous travels and endeavours. I just sliced up a chicken with it, and have used it many times in the kitchen. The stainless blade and plastic handle aids greatly in cleaning it, and that wonderful Opinel edge works magic on anything it encounters. The whistle is great in getting my sheepdogs attention. I'd love to try the shackle key! Anyway, I'm definitely a fan of this knife and Opinel in general!
Hey Barry! Thank you so much for your review! Your satisfaction and love of Opinel definitely puts a smile on our faces as this is what we aim to bring to our customers! Glad to hear that this No.08 is accompanying you in the kitchen, on adventures, with your son or yours dogs and everywhere you need it! Take care.
