I have a little collection of Opinels, and I love all of them. My No. 12 was purchased primarily for use in the kitchen. It handled nearly every job I threw at it with ease. The carbon steel blade has developed a fantastic patina and remains very sharp. It even rides okay in my pocket. When I'm ready to go camping again, it will be in my camp cooking kit. Opinel is one of the best values in the knife world, offering a fantastic quality knife at a very affordable price. Pick the right size for your needs, and you won't go wrong. Highly recommended all around!
This is a serious sized knife for some serious work. I'm not in love with the carbon blade as I'm always worried it will rust so I ordered one with a stainless blade, but carbon takes a super sharp edge and is easily restored. There is a reason that many people like them and I don't hate it. It has a very rustic feel and I know why people love this knife and love this brand... it works!
carbon steel is amazingly sharp, i can cut paper, steak, or even the mystery meat in the canteen! perfect for everyone
I really like No.12 carbon knife and it's sharp out the box. I cut up a pork butt with it to see how it did. The only thing is the handle is real slippery when wet and covered with fat.
Couldn't be more pleased. A large, light pocket knife that doesn't imprint while carrying it and sharp enough to shave with. Fantastic knife for the price.
